  • Bower was sent to France a month after arriving in England. Here he joined the 13 Battery on 12 November 1917 and within two days was posted to the Ypres area. During the first week in December the NZFA moved into the Front line. (Church, p.207)

    During the Battale of Bapaume Bower received gunshot wounds to his left hip and left buttock on 26 August 1918. He was evacuated to England and admitted to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst on 30 August. He died a few days later. (Church, p.207) AWMM
