      9 December 1943 AWMM
      'From 28 September to 2 October 1943 Private Armour acted as Company to bear on the dozer and operator. Sapper Armstrong took cover in some nearby trees and waited until the enemy retired when he returned to his machine and continued work although intermittent mortar-fire continued. The work was completed before first light enabling tanks and supporting arms to get forward. Throughout the whole operation Sapper Armstrong showed the greatest devotion to duty and the successful passage of supporting arms was entirely due to his courage and complete disregard for his personal safety.'.
