Leave a tribute or memory of
Harold George Nepia Skelton
My father in law Norman Frederick Skelton is Harold (Tom) nephew. His father was Henry Osborne Skelton who was Tom's brother. I am thrilled to have located this photo as I do not have any of Henry or his brothers and sisters. My son will pay his respects at your gravesite when he next visits France. It is a pity that I located this photo now and not three weeks ago when two sons great greatnephews and a great nephew would have been able to pay their respects. RIP you brave young soldier

In memory of my great uncle, Harold George Nepia Skelton (known as Tony), (Te Atiawa iwi and Ngati Rahiri hapu) born 7 April 1896 in Motunui, Taranaki, son of George Nepia Skelton (known as Tim) and Mihi Olivia Rahira. Enlisted with the second Māori contingent of the Māori Pioneer Battalion with his younger brother, George Daniel Skelton (26.7.1897 to 8. 6. 1980) on 14 June 1915. Died of wounds 8 August 1917.
Great Uncle Tony, though you died far too young in a land a long way away from your papakainga, your turangawaewae, you are remembered.
Kia tau te rangimarie – May Peace be with You!
RiP .... Great Uncle Tony. Lest We Forget. I treasure the letters that you sent home to your sister Gus (my Grandmother) and also your ID/dog tags. I feel very honoured to have these in my possession. This coming ANZAC Day 100 years on I am hoping to return to Waitara to march in your honour in the Dawn Parade. You made the ultimate sacrifice so I can be a very proud New Zealander. Arohanui Jenny G
