    Last night Mr and Mrs James .S. Allan were advised' by the Defenoe Department that. their son Trooper Charles Thomas Allan, previously reported missing on September 27, was now reported killed in action on that date. Trooper, Allan was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Allan, and was a well-known Gisborne young man. He was 19 years of age. After leaving the Gisborne High School. Trooper Allan was employed in the Insurance department of Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd. He had a serious illness from which he made a remarkable recovery, and subsequently he went to Glenroy station, where he was engaged sheepfarming for about 15 months, when he enlisted and left Gisborne with the 10th Reinforcements. The parents received a field card dated three days before he was killed, stating Trooper Allan was then quite well. Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 8 May 2023 - ROLL OF HONOR.
