    • Alexander Stevens was the son of Meta Stevens, of Waerengaokuri, Gisborne, New Zealand, and C. Stevens, of London, England. AWMM
    • April 1917 - Among the New Zealanders who were recently reported (on the finding. of the Court of Enquiry) to have been killed in action was Trooper Alex Stevens, second son of Mr and Mrs Stevens, Fox street, have received official information of the sad news. Trooper Stevens, who was previously reported as missing, was well known in Gisborne, being one of three brothers who responded to the Empire's call from Gisborne. He was employed at the Gisborne Freezing Works when he enlisted with the l3th Reinforcements. Trooper Stevens served two years in the E.C.M.R. The news of his death will be received with deep regret by a wide circle of friends, and much sympathy will be felt for the parents and relatives.
