  • After his time in hospital Alexander Stirrat returned to France on 2 June 1918. On 5 September he was wounded in his chest and pharynx near Havrincourt Wood.

    He arrived at No.1 NZGH Brockenhurst on 19 September and died on 19 January 1919. (Church, p.89)

    "Alexander is remembered on the Stirrat family grave (above) at Eastern Cemetery and on the War Memorial, Invercargill. There is a street named after the Stirrat family but no one of this family lived in Invercargill in 2001." (Church, p.89) AWMM
