      William Stuart won a prize for his poem published for the ship board magazine on the Pakeha, October 1916. 'The Pakeha', The Journal of the 17th Reinforcements.

      Name is spelled Stewart in Pakeha p. 5 AWMM

      William Alexander STUART was born on 5 July 1891 at Otago Peninsula. He attended Otago Boys High School 1904-1908, was a Senior Provincial Scholar, and a University National Scholar in 1908. He then attended Otago University with an Advanced Physics Senior National Scholarship 1909-1912 and a Beverley Scholarship December 1911. According to his obituary (Otago Witness, 4 September 1918, page 28), he graduated M.Sc.
