  • William Braidwood was the son of Thomas and Jessie Braidwood, of 2, Wanganui Avenue, Auckland, New Zealand

    Attended Auckland Grammar School.

    Embarked Wellington, 24 April 1918; disembarked Suez, 31 May 1918, and marched in to Australian Camp.
    Embarked Alexandria, 4 July 1918; disembarked Southampton, England, 18 July 1918, and marched in to NZ Field Artillery Depot, Ewshott.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 9 September 1918; marched out to unit from Base Depot, Etaples, 11 September 1918.
    Posed to 3rd Battery, 1st Brigade, 17 September 1918.
    Wounded in action, 1 October 1918 (multiple shrapnel wounds), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 34th Casualty Clearing Station.
    Died of wounds, 5 October 1918 Gun shot wound, right leg; feet shattered).
