  • Son of John and Lavinia Tait, of Victoria St. Hamilton West (Source: CWGC Online). CWGC Online incorrectly states his next of kin as John Lavinia Tait.

    Christopher Tait's army records state that he was born in 1894.

    "Posting to France commenced on 5 April when Christopher Tait embarked at Alexandria on board HMT Minnewaska. He was one of many soldiers to be injured on the Somme, receiving gunshot wounds to his chest, left arm, and left thigh on 21 September. He was immediately evacuated to England and arrived at No.1 NZGH in Brockenhurst. He died a few days later.(Church, p.103) AWMM
