  • Alban Taylor was the son of John and Eliza Taylor, of Rawene Rd., Birkenhead, Auckland, New Zealand.

    Joined Auckland Infantry Bn, Gallipoli, 8 May 1915, and appointed Acting Corporal.
    Admitted to No 2 Stationary Hospital, Mudros, 11 August 1915 (influenza), and relinquished appointment as Acting Corporal; transferred to England (date not recorded), and admitted to 1st War Hospital, Birmingham, 16 September 1915.
    Attached to NZ Base Depot, Hornchurch, 27 January 1916.
    Admitted to Addington War Hospital, Croydon, 14 April 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 6 July 1916.
    Attached on strength to 1st Training Bn, Sling Camp, 8 September 1916.
    Appointed Temporary Sergeant, 18 September 1916.
    Proceeded overseas to France (date not recorded); marched in to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 20 September 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 1 October 1916, and relinquished appointment as Temporary Sergeant.
    Appointed Lance Corporal, 16 January 1917.
    Promoted Corporal, 1 April 1917.
