  • George Taylor was the son of John and Margaret Taylor, of Fitzroy; husband of Louisa M. Taylor, of Richmond St., Fitzroy, New Plymouth, New Zealand.

    Embarked Wellington, 10 October 1915; disembarked Egypt, 18 November 1915.
    Joined Western Frontier Force, 21 November 1915.
    Temporarily attached to NZ&AAC Headquarters, Ismailia, 2 February 1916; rejoined Bn, 15 March 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria for France, 6 April 1916.
    Appointed Cook, Armentieres, 20 May 1916.
    Wounded in action, 4 July 1916 (b. wound, right thigh), and relinquished appointment as Cook; admitted to 14th Stationary Hospital, Boulogne, 5 July 1916; transferred to England, 6 July 1916, and admitted to Welsh Metropolitan War Hospital, Whitchurch, 8 July 1916; transferred to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 7 November 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 8 November 1916.
    Attached to strength of 5th Reserve Bn, Sling Camp, 27 January 1917.
    Transferred to 3rd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Codford, 2 May 1917, and posted to 4th Company.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 28 May 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 8 October 1917.
    Killed in action, 16 October 1917.
