    Posted to 1st Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, in the field, 22 September 1916.
    Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 3 February 1917 (nephritis); transferred to No 13 General Hospital, Boulogne, 8 February 1917; embarked for England and admitted to No 2 General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 15 February 1917.
    Died, No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 6 March 1917 (nephritis, pneumonia and heart failure).
