    Second-Lieutenant Norman Thompsett [sic], N.Z.I.A., killed in action on October 12, was a native of Kent. He was an architect by profession. He went to the front with an early reinforcement, and saw service at Gallipoli. He was invalided to England as the result of enteric fever, and after a prolonged convalescence at Hornchurch, proceeded to the western front, where he was transferred from the Auckland Battalion to the Otago Battalion. He was selected on the field for a commission, and after qualifying in England, he returned to the firing line. (Auckland Weekly News, 15 November 1917, p. 21) AWMM
