  • William Abraham was the son of Edward and Mary Abraham, of Kaikoura, New Zealand.

    Sergeant Abraham was killed in action in a night attack during the August Offensive. His body was recovered and identified.

    Date of death may have been 6 August or 7 August 1915.

    Arrived Suez, Egypt on 3 December 1914. Text of the Memorial plaque, Bank of New Zealand Arcade, Wellington, New Zealand: 'In Memoriam: The names inscribed upon this tablet are those of officers of the Bank of New Zealand who laid down their lives in the Great War AD 1914-1919 waged against the nations of central Europe - Germany, Austria, Turkey and Bulgaria - who sought by force of arms to obtain world-wide dominion. In honour of their patriotism and valour. In admiration of their sacrifice. And in grateful perpetuation of their glorious and ennobling memory this monument is reverently dedicated.   • William Percival Abraham born 28 Feb 1893 at Kaikoura, son of Edward Luke and Mary Ann Abraham Enlisted in Cant Mounted Rifles at Nelson 17 August 1914. Was a Trooper Sergt. Died 6-7 August 1915, his body was recovered and identified and he is buried in the 7th Field ambulance Cemetery.
