The Government of New Zealand have endeavored in every case where it has been possible to identify and mark with crosses the last resting places of New Zealand soldiers who have given their lives for their country. Where this has been done, photographs have been taken showing the cross upon the grave. One of these photographs has been received by Mr P. Turner, of Gisborne, showing the cross marking the last resting place of his son, Trooper J. H Turner, who was buried at Alexandria. In forwarding the photograph the Minister of Defence expressed the hope that it might be some solace to the parent in his bereavement Public - Lorraine Mona - Researcher - 11 June 2023 - POVERTY BAY HERALD, VOLUME XLIII, ISSUE 14063, 5 AUGUST 1916, PAGE 4
