  • Oswald Vaughan was the youngest Son of Mrs. E. J. Vaughan, of Rhydd Gardens, Hanley Castle, Worcester, England, and the late Rev. Charles Vaughan.

    Embarked for Gallipoli, 9 May 1915.
    Reported wounded in action, Anzac Cove, 9 August 1915 (gun shot wound, left breast); transferred from Alexandria on HS 'Aquitania' to England, 12 August 1915 (no further details of hospital treatment recorded).
    Disembarked Alexandria from England, 23 January 1916; joined 2nd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, Moascar, 22 March 1916.
    Embarked Alexandria for France, 9 April 1916.
    Wounded in action, 14 September 1916 (shrapnel wound, right side); admitted to No 1 General Hospital, Etretat, 18 September 1916; transferred to England, 20 September 1916, and admitted to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst, 21 September 1916; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 4 November 1916.
    Admitted to Isolation Hospital, Tidworth, 7 January 1917.
    Transferred to 3rd Bn, Wellington Infantry Regiment, 3 March 1917; taken on strength, 2 April 1917, and posted to 11th Company.
    Appointed Temporary Corporal, 4 May 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 27 May 1917.
    Detached to School of Instruction, 25 June 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 2 July 1917.
    Killed in action, Belgium, 4 October 1917.
