      Brother of Paihau, of Opoutama, Hawkes Bay, and Ra, who died of disease on 11 December 1915, en route to Malta from Gallipoli.

      Embarked, 18 September 1915; disembarked Suez, 26 October 1915.
      Posted toOtago Infantry Bn, Moascar, 20 January 1916.
      Embarked Port Said, Egypt, with a pioneer unit and proceeded overseas to France, 9 April 1916.
      Admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to NZ Divisional Rest Station, 24 June 1916 (enteritis); discharged to duty, 27 June 1916.
      Admitted to No 50 Casualty Clearing Station, 19 August 1916 (influenza); transferred to No 32 Stationary Hospital, Wimereux, 21 August 1916; embarked for England, 13 September 1916.
      Died, No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 30 October 1916 (tuberculous and pleurisy).

    • Ramera Wairau was a young maori boy/ teenager who was following the footsteps of his father, who also served for his country , city, town, and neighborhood.
      Ramera served New Zealand in 1914 during WW1. Where he was ranked private throught out the war. The last unit that Ramera served was the New Zealand Pioneer Battalion .
      Family
      Son of Ra (Regt. 16/53) and Wahati Wairau, sister Waihatu Wairau. Ramera wanted to be like his father growing up, then sadly Ramera's father passed away from a disease on 11 December 1915 en route to Malta from Gallipoli.
