Sergeant Henry Frank Warrington, killed in action on October 4, was the fourth son of the late Mr. Henry Warrington, of Opotiki, and Mrs. H. Warrington, of Birkenhead. Sergeant Warrington, who was born and educated at Opotiki, left New Zealand with the sixth reinforcements, and was present at the evacuation of Gallipoli. He afterwards went to France, and was wounded in the Somme battle. Upon recovery he returned to the firing-line, and received his stripes. He took a keen interest in football, and was a member of the Northcote Ramblers Club. His brother Arthur returned from service some months ago. (Auckland Weekly News, 27 December 1917, p. 21) AWMM
