  • Frederick Westenra was the son of Arthur Henry and Julia Westenra, of Akaroa, Canterbury, New Zealand.

    Frederick Westenra is commemorated on the war memorial at Akaroa.

    Embarked Wellington, 15 November 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 29 January 1917, and marched in to Training Bn, Sling Camp.
    Taken on strength, 3rd Bn, Canterbury Infantry Regiment, Codford, and posted to 1st Company, 4 April 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 28 May 1917.
    Admitted to No 4 NZ Field Ambulance, 17 September 1917 (scabies); transferred same day to No 4 Stationary Hospital, Arques; discharged to unit, 23 September 1917; rejoined 3rd Bn, in the field, 23 September 1917.
    Killed in action, Belgium, 19 October 1917.
