    Posted NCOs, Mounted Rifles, 12th Reinforcements, 15 November 1915.
    Promoted Sergeant, 9 January 1916; now with D Squadron, 12th Reinforcements.
    Embarked, 6 May 1916; disembarked Suez, ex 'Mokoia', 22 June 1916.
    Embarked Suez, 26 July 1916; disembarked Southampton, England, 7 August 1916, marched in to Sling Camp and reverted to the ranks.
    Promoted Corporal, 12 August 1916.
    Gained Instructor's Certificate in Bombing, Lynhurst, 28 November 1916.
    Appointed Instructor in Bombing for Training Cadre AWTR, date unknown.
    Promoted Sergeant, 6 April 1917.
    Transferred to 4th Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, 21 July 1917; marched in to 4th Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment from Training Camp, Sling Camp, 22 July 1917.
    Attached 5th Reserve Bn, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, Sling Camp, 18 August 1917.
    Detached to 4th Reserve Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, Sling Camp, 3 September 1917, as Instructor in Bombing.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 20 March 1918; marched in to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 24 March 1918; marched in to XXII Corps Reinforcement Camp, 4 April 1918.
    Joined No 2 NZ Entrenching Bn, in the field, 4 June 1918.
    Posted missing, 9 May 1918; finding of Court of Enquiry, 'Missing believed Prisoner', 19 May 1918; finding of Court of Enquiry, killed in action 9 August 1918. According to an eye witness at the the Court of Enquiry, Arthur was hit in the temple by a bullet and died within 'a minute or two'. His paybook was taken by a stretcher bearer who was captured before being able to hand it in, and this resulted in the confusion about Arthur being captured.'
