  • Corporal Gatenby was originally from Kaponga, Taranaki, and was the only soldier from Taranaki to be killed in action during the Vietnam War. He was on his third tour overseas and his second in Vietnam.

    Formerly buried at Terendak Camp, Malacca, Malaysia.

    Originaly buried in Terandak Camp, Malaysia, in 2018 Corporal Gatenby was returned to New Zealand as part of Te Auraki (The Return) project, and reburied in Opunake.
