    Posted to Vietnam in 161 Bty 15.9.1967. Employed initially as gun number, then changed to driver in 161 Bty. Died on active service-self inflicted GSW in Nui Dat base. Also served in Borneo with 1 RNZIR. NZ Memorial Cross awarded to family. He was initially RNZIR and completed a Corps change to RNZA while in Vietnam. Qualified for the Australian Unit Citation for Gallantry for his service in FSB Coral and Balmoral as a Dvr Op. AWMM

  • Dear Uncle Noel
    I'm so sorry I never got to meet you. I've heard a lot about you. You died the day before my 5th birthday. My mum (your sister Nova) had taken me to school for my first day and got the phone call when she got back. I remember your funeral on TV and have visited your grave in Hokitika.
    One day I'd like to write a song in your memory.
