  • Arthur Allen was the son of William Arthur Allen and Ada Florence Allen (nee Scott) of Hastings, Hawke's Bay. Both parents were from England. When he enlisted his father was deceased and his mother's surname was Newman. He was the husband of Mary Harthill Allen of Gisborne.

    An interesting collection of letters written in transit from New Zealand and from Africa and Italy is held in the Auckland War Memorial Museum Library Manuscript Collection. (reference MS99/31) AWMM
