  • Bradbourne was badly wounded when during a scouting tour of Roodekopjes a volley of shots rang out from a hill fifty yards away. His soldiers were ready to carry him back to safety, but he instructed them to leave him where he was and fetch a doctor. Doctor Godfrey, braving bullets, failed to save him and he was buried next morning near Wolputers Kop, about 30 miles west-north-west of Pretoria on the road to Pretoria, and about 10 miles west of Roodekopjes on the Crocodile River.

Listed at on the service record and at Archives New Zealand as Bradburne. Named H.H. Bradburne on the Name panel at Rietfontein 280 Cemetery AWMM
