  • Cyril Brown was the son of William and Annie Brown, of Wellington; husband of Eunice Brown, of 78, Oriental Bay, Wellington, New Zealand.

    He is commemorated on one of the bells (donated by William Brown) of the National War Memorial Carillon, Wellington.

    Reported to NZ Field Artillery Depot, Chadderton, England, 29 July 1917.
    Proceeded overseas to France, 1 August 1917; posted to 6th Battery, 20 August 1917.
    Wounded in action (date not recorded) (shell wound head); transferred to England, and admitted to 2nd London General Hospital, 9 November 1917; listed as 'dangerously ill,. 5 December 1917; 'critical', 13 December 1917.
    Died of wounds, 13 December 1917.
