    From Auckland comes news that Second-Lieutenant Bruce Ashton, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Ashton and a brother of Mrs. L. C. D. Harries. Gisborne, was killed in action on November 24. His parents formerly resided in Gisborne for many years. Second - Lieutenant Ashton was married just prior to going overseas a year ago.   • Bruce was the beloved first husband of my mother Mary Tyree. She treasured the medal that was sent to her after his death. Personal letters, photos and the medal are held in our family along with the wooden bible that he sent my mother shortly before his tragic death.
