  • Lieutenant McKeich was the last New Zealander to die in the Anglo-Boer War. He was out on a shooting expedition to shoot springbok when he was shot by Boer soldiers who did not know the war was over.

    Father, Robert McKeich (N/N 6825) and son, Walter Ernest McKeich (9538) served in the Anglo-Boer War.

    Originally buried at the English Cemetery where the Vaaland and Klip rivers meet and later moved to the Maccauvlei Cemetery.

    Name mis-spelled as Robert McKeith on the AWMM memorial.
