    Jack Mays was a universal favourite with residents of the North Shore. He was a good all-round athlete, and took a keen interest in yachting and cricket.

    He died from cerebral compression from accidental injuries received in a fall from horse at Kookoomoor (Kokemoer).

    He was buried at Kookoomoor near Klerksdorp
