  • Son of William George and Eliza Ann Attwood, of Ngunguru

Educated at the Kara Primary School, he afterwards commenced farming on his parents' farm at Kara, where he was employed until his enlistment in the armed forces. A keen sportsman he played hockey for the district club and was also an active member of the Matarau Tennis Club.

As a member of the Tank Brigade, he went overseas with the 11th Reinforcements.

Although of a quiet and unassuming nature he was well-liked by all who knew him and news of his death has caused widespread regret. AWMM
