    • MAORI’S OWN UNIT brilliant war record STRENGTH FROM PRAYER -
      The speaker mentioned several incidents during the unit’s stay in England, and then continued his history of the battalion through the Greek and Cretan campaigns, and telling in particular of the bayonet charge at Suda Bay which threw the enemy into confusion. The prelude to this charge of a haka —-the only haka which the Maoris had used in battle — led by Private H. AUPOURI. Ruatoria, who was later killed at El Alamein.
