  • Frederick Brown was born in Australia on 23 April 1894 and attended school in New Zealand.

    He entered the Royal Military College of Australia in March 1913, graduating on 30 June 1915 to 18 Regiment, Royal New Zealand Army.

    On 10 October 1916 he transferred to the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and departed for England.

    Captain Brown was posted to New Zealand Field Artillery on 8 January 1917. He was posted to 1 Battery, 1 Field Artillery Brigade in France in February 1917.

    On 16 December 1917 he was appointed Staff Officer for Reconnaissance, New Zealand Divisional Artillery. On 25 July 1918 he was transferred to 11 Battery, 3 Field Artillery Brigade. The following week he was promoted to Captain and detached to IV Corps RAHQ, Captain Brown was killed in action 1 September 1918. AWMM
