  • I only found out about you recently Lionel Eric Smith (Uncle Eric). You were my grandfather's brother, from a small town in Taranaki (Stratford), and you gave your life in a country thousands of miles away, and within 4 months of landing there. We cannot imagine the horrors you faced. You are possibly the bravest man I never knew, but now in my thoughts, Helen.
