  • John William WREN was my great uncle.He was my grandmothers youngest brother. My grandmother was Margaret Frances Wickham nee WREN. John was unknown to me,I knew nothing about him or his other siblings.Only idle research led me to find out that I had a relative who served in the NZEF from 1916 to 1918 and died of influenza complications and wounds not long after he came home form the war. John was born in 1895 and his father Thomas Wren in 1908. In Thomas will he left property to a Sarah Jensen with the proviso that his son be looked after. A few months ago I visited his grave at Waikaraka cemetery and found he was buried with Alfred Gordon DEAN,Sarah's son. The grave stood out,the stone was brighter than others and appeared to have been cleaned. Unfortunately I have no photo of him. I am sorry not to have known him but believe he may be pleased to know that we have both shared the ki
