Second Lieutenant Allan Grant Bloore was a well-known Hamilton resident. He was born in Gisborne 20 years ago, being the son of Mr. J. G. Bloore, Hamilton. He was educated in Gisborne and moved to Hamilton 12 years ago. He was employed by the Hamilton Hardware Company, Limited. Lieutenant Bloore was keenly interested in athletics, and for many years was secretary of the Hamilton Harriers Club. He left New Zealand as a gunner with an artillery unit in 1940. He so distinguished himself in the Greek campaign that he attended an officers’ training school in Cairo and received his commission.
