  • John Bomford was the son of Dr. William Harold Bomford L.R.C.S.I., L.R.C.P.I. and Bessie Kathleen Bomford of Takapuna, Auckland

    Two sons, brothers John Hamilton Bomford (NZ413808) and Stephen Robert William Bomford (38205) died in WW2.

    He was a member of No.4 Solo Flight Training School at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1941

    The New Zealand Herald of 4 November 1942 reported that Pilot Officer Bomford had been killed on active service.

    Remembered on the Takapuna War Memorial, The Strand, Takapuna.
