    • James Gordon Booklass died at the British Military Hospital in Murree, India 19 June 1942. He was admitted there on the 27th of May from the R.A.F. Hill Station. He had contracted a very severe form of Typhoid Fever. He was inoculated against Typhoid, but this is not always protection. Towards the end he developed Typhoid meningitis, a rare complication. The Specialist from the hospital wrote in a letter that they were all impressed by his remarkable fortitude and courage at all times. The nursing staff quickly became deeply attached to him and his popularity with his comrades was obvious from the numbers of enquires with they received about his condition. A man of lesser character and determination would not have survived the illness for one half of the time. Public - Sandra - Other relative - 7 October 2016 - Letter dated 20th June, 1942 from G. Thurston, Specialist in Medicine, Rawalpindi District, British Hospital, Murree sent to James Gordon Booklass mother.

  • my dads great uncle.
    Public - Luke - Other relative - 19 April 2016
  • This is my great uncle, I was told by my Nana, Elizabeth Mary Wrightson that he died in India through an illness he caught due to not boiling his drinking water. He was from all accounts a very humble and lovely man. Sad that I never got to meet him.
    Public - Andrew Gordon - Other Relative - 15 February 2015
