  • Percy Mercer was the son of Cecil Walter and Ann Mercer (nee Forsyth).

    Percy Mercer was in Australia on the outbreak of the First World War and served with the Australian Imperial Force. He was invalided home in 1918, after suffering from severe shell-shock. After being in New Zealand, he re-enlisted with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force but was not sent overseas.

    Also has the service number 92523 listed in his military personnel file.

    Died after discharge and he had been suffering from insomnia and shell shock.
