    • His military service records show that enlisted 11/8/1914 and was part of the Samoa Expeditionary Force from 12/8/14 to 22/3/15 (223 days). On returning to NZ he was discharged and re-enlisted with the rank of L/Cpl disembarking in Suez for training (19/4/1916) before being transferred to the Machine Gun Squadron in Egypt (30/7/16). It seem likely that at the time of his death (14/11/1917) he was deployed from the Anzac Mounted Division HQ, hence he never served with any particular regiment.
