  • Lloyd English was the youngest son of Samuel Oliver and Martha Annie English of Auckland.

He attended King's School and King's College from 1931-34, Parnell House.

He was an executive officer at H. & J. Court, Hamilton, from which he resigned in September 1941 to enlist, and a keen local sportsman.

While in Hamilton Lloyd was a member of the Lochiel Golf Club and the Hamilton Tennis Club.

He completed gunnery training in Canada and was posted as a rear gunner in a Lancaster squadron in the United Kingdom. At the time of his death he was attached to Bomber Command.

Just before his death he met Rev. H.K Archdall for lunch in London.
