  • Hazel Bramwell was the only daughter of Urba and Watson Bramwell. She had seven brothers.

She attended Feilding Primary School and Wanganui Girls College. She then attended secretarial college and worked as a secretary before starting her training as a nurse at Palmerston North Hospital. She was 24 years old.

In 1941 she left for Egypt and served in military hospitals in Cairo, Syria, Tunisia and Italy.

On her return she cared for her mother in Plimmerton.

Hazel Bramwell married Barney Quill in 1951, living in Palmerston and then Wanganui. Subsequently she lived in Gisborne and later Takapuna (Auckland).

She died shortly after her 90th birthday. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Canon Roy Everall at St Peter's Anglican Church, Takapuna, followed by a cremation. AWMM
