  • Maynard Archdall was the son of the Revd. Canon Henry Kingsley Archdall, M.A., and Laura Archdall, of St. Marychurch Vicarage, Torquay, Devon.

    Maynard was the third son of Headmaster of King's College, Canon Archdall, He attended King's School and King's College and later Cambridge University where he enlisted in the British Army in 1939.

    He became a Troop Commander in the Royal Artillery Battery in Burma. In the 14th Army's bitterly opposed advance against the Japanese from Assam to Mandalay, he was killed in action. He was at the time in a forward observation post for his artillery troop.

    His brother, Warwick Henry Archdall (174209), also died in WW2. AWMM
