Hewett and Mrs Hewett formerly of Auckland and later of Kilbirnie. He attended King's College (Town House) from 1928-1930. He was employed by the Public Works Department in the South Island engaged in erecting and inspecting overhead electric lines. He enjoyed the outdoor life and was a keen mountaineer and a member of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club. He died in flying operations in the final stage of his pilot training.
