  • Pilot Officer Abbott was the son of Vernon Richard and Barbara Abbott of Wellington. He was married to Hazel Jean Abbott, of Wellington.

    Operation Fuller was the Allied code name for the response to the breakout from the French port of Brest of the German battle-cruisers "Scharnhorst" and "Gneisenau" and the cruiser "Prinz Eugen" to Germany. The role of Bomber Command was to bomb and mine the Brest area and the presumed route to the North Sea. (http://www.navweaps.com/index_oob/OOB_WWII_Atlantic/OOB_WWII_Cerberus.htm) 2007. Next of kin details compiled from information in the Casualty lists published in the newspapers.
