  • Son of Charles Leopold and Charlotte Anne Rogers of Auckland City. His wife was Winifred Rogers of Surfdale, Auckland.

Private Rogers was married with four children when he enlisted. He changed his name in order to circumvent the restriction on fathers leaving for war.

William Rogers died in the fighting that took place in December 1943, part of the battle taking place around the Sangro river area in the Eighth Army's move up the Adriatic coast of Italy. Intense and bitter fighting marked this stage of the campaign as the Germans strove to hold what was known as their 'Winter Line'.

Served as Cyril William Rodgers, changed name to circumvent the restriction on fathers leaving for war. AWMM
