  • Ronald Newman attended Gisborne High School before working as a Shepherd on his family farm at Waimata Valley. Son of Ludvic Marshlands and Elsie Newman (nee Wachsman), Waimata. Husband of Kayte Isobel Newman (nee Breigan), father of 1 daughter.

    In 1998 Adriaan de Winter and Ton van Alphen undertook a project in the Reichswald Forest Cemetery photographing all the headstones of New Zealanders buried there.

    Flight-Sergeant Ronald Wynne Newman was the second son of Mr. L. Newman, Waimata. He was on his twenty-fourth operational flight over enemy territory when the aircraft in which he was a member of the crew was hit in the air, and crashed with the loss of all hands in the neighbourhood of Osterfeld.
