  • Frank Anthony joined the British Navy and served as a gunner on the British destroyer Opal from 1915-1917. He was injuried when crushed between the ship and a bouy and his lung was permanently damaged. He returned to New Zealand to a TB sanatorium at Cambridge and then settled on a soldiers Settlement Scheme farm in Taranaki for five years before returning to England.

    He wrote several books including Me and Gus and Follow the Call. AWMM
