  • I have lived in NZ for nearly 60 years now and fairly recently discovered that I have relatives here, they do come from a long way back so; settle back and read on. My mother [I by the way I am 90 years old] was a Simons, her father was a blacksmith whose family had resided in a Northampton village called 'Arthingworth' for centuries. Sarah Louise Muntz was a Simons before marrying one Charles Adolphus Muntz, she of course was from Arthingworth which name by incredible chance was the name given to Charlie's farm as also the local college. She, it must be said was the original producer of all of those that followed in that family. The Charlie Simons, blacksmith of grimy industrial Leeds I did meet but was only two years old when he died aged 63. By research of my own I discovered how it came about that Charles and Sarah arrived at Nelson in 1838 on a ship as a young married couple. RHF
