  • Son of Harry Ibbotson, and of Dorothy Gladys Ibbotson (nee Harper), of Reddish, Stockport, Cheshire, England.

    Jack Ibbotson was a pilot at the time he was killed. He was listed in the New Zealand Herald on 1 April 1942 as 'previously reported missing, now reclassified missing, believed killed'.

    In 1998 Marco Scuderi and Rosario Scuderi undertook a photographic project in the Catania War Cemetery in Sicily. The photos attached to this record are part of the collection they presented to Auckland War Memorial Museum and include the entrance and plaques, cross of sacrifice, views of the cemetery and the headstone of this serviceman. Next of kin details compiled from information in the Casualty lists published in the newspapers. AWMM
