  • Mr Harvey's family record his rank on embarkation as 2nd Lieutenant but on the nominal roll it appears as Warrant Officer 2nd class.

    Mrs Harvey wrote a little more detail about her late husband's service during the war: ' I understand Peter was commissioned and sent to the Pacific as an Inspector of Ammunition, this included the USA dumps. He also saw some service with the Division.'

    I met Peter in Florence, January 1946, where we were staying, forming the 9th Brigade (J Force). Peter was with the 25 Battery but put as Quartermaster owing to that position being vacant.' AWMM
