  • The following is a newspaper article which is related to the making of the football field. "Action Man." He is a man of action who gets things done - as in the Middle East during the Second World War when he never moved from one camp site to another without a pair of goalposts on his shoulders. He was the regimental sergeant major and the sports officer for the battalion, and subscribed to the theory that a fit body meant an alert mind. He'll tell you, though, that it was a lot safer to get your head kicked in than get shot at.

    There was always the opportunity to play rugby when Sergeant-Major McGregor was on the job - there was never a shortage of footballs.

    "I had an arrangement with an English pilot who ferried planes," explains Mr McGregor with lovely simplicity. AWMM
